Between season one and two of Mars on National Geographic, lots had occurred in the world around us that paralleled the narrative in the show. To get people up to speed, Nat Geo wanted a timeline video that summarized everything in an eye-catching way. This was a challenge as many of the topics covered were limited in visuals that could be approved by legal, and so we decided to go the route of a collage of articles and created imagery. The SpaceX rocket, for example, had to be imitated in 3D but tweaked enough to not be the exact rocket.
